Generally, Vata's should eat larger quantities without overeating.  All sweeteners pacify Vata...Heavy sweet fruits, like bananas, avocados, apricots, plums, oranges, grapefruit.  Cooked veggies (limit raw veggies), favoring asparagas, beets & carrots.  Most all spices are good for Vatas...cardamom, cumin, cinnamon, salt, cilantro, basil, black pepper to name a few.

Vata Balance Exercise:

Light exercise that enhance balance and flexibility is best for a Vata body type.

Yoga practice should be slow paced and meditative.  Holding asanas longer to create heat.  Eyes focused downward for grounding.

Pitta

Lots of Energy

Good Appetite

Good Decision Maker

Out of Balance:

Skin Rashes

Generally, Pitta's should eat cooling foods.  Stay away from fermented dairy (yogurt, sour cream, cheese).  Sweet fruits like melons, grapes, cherries, coconut, avocado, mangos, ripe pineapples and oranges pacify Pitta, but limit sour fruits like apricots and berries.   Green leafy veggies are good for Pitta's as are cucumbers, sweet potatoes, green beans, cauliflower, and zucchini...but limit, tomatoes, hot peppers, carrots, beets, garlic, and onions.

Pitta Balance Exercise:

Regularly spend time in nature. Walks in the woods and around natural bodies of water.

Yoga practice should be moderate paced.  Hold asanas less time (holding the asana creates heat).  Open poses that release heat are best for Pitta.

Kapha

Pitta

Kapha

Kapa's tend to have a robust, voluptuous body, they are calm, thoughtful and loving.

In Balance:

Good Stamina

Large, Soft Eyes

Smooth, Radiant Skin

Thick Hair

Sound Sleeper

Good Digestion

Calm, Thoughtful, Loving

Loyal, Patient, Steady, Supportive

Out of Balance:

Weight Gain

Allergies

Excessive Sleep

Diabetes

Depression

Overly Sentimental

Possessive

Stubborn

Generally, Kapha's should eat warm foods with pungent, bitter, and astringent tastes.  Stay away from heating spices like cinnamon, cumin, and ginger (NO SALT).  Reduce dairy, but enjoy fruits like apples, pomegranates, cranberries, and apricots.  Reduce heavy fruits like bananas, avocados, pineapples, oranges, peaches, coconuts and dates.  All veggies are great for Kapha's, but reduce sweet & juicy veggies like sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and zucchini.

Kapha Balance Exercise:

Get regular exercise – preferably every day. This is the best way to avoid stagnation and the accumulation of toxins in the body. Focus on building endurance.

Yoga practice should be faster paced with continuous movement, eyes focussed upward.
